What to Buy Trending Products & Deals My Dad Is Impossible to Shop for, but Yeti’s Wine Chiller Is the Perfect Gift for Him In fact, it’s a foolproof present for any wine lover. Food & Wine's Editorial Guidelines Published on November 16, 2023 Photo: Food & Wine / Yeti Every year, the struggle to buy my dad a gift he'll like intensifies, with last year reaching a new peak. “Why would anyone want this?” he asked me when I presented him with his gift. He didn’t mean it offensively, or at least, that offensively. It’s just who he is. Still, after that, I wasn’t going to take any chances. And just in time for Father's Day, I've found an ingenious product that combines two of my dad’s favorite things: Yeti and wine. Yeti Wine Chiller Yeti $70 at Yeti.com At first glance, the Yeti wine chiller looks like an oversized water bottle from the brand. And it turns out it is exactly that, just without a lid that will fit it. It’s made with the exact same double-wall insulation as its water bottles, which keeps beverages cold or hot for hours. It’s just that this is made to fit a wine bottle (including bottles of Champagne). If you’re wondering if the cold will escape through the top since it doesn’t have a lid, we’re in the same boat. But after trying it out with a bottle of Chardonnay I had chilled in the fridge, it turns out the cooler can keep a wine bottle cold for at least five hours, which if you’re keeping it outside for longer seems like user error. While you have to pop it into the fridge or freezer to pre-chill it, that honestly saves ice, and took about an hour for me to get it down to the right temperature. A really nice touch from the brand is that it added a rubber base on the inside so that when you drop your wine bottle in, it doesn't break or make a loud banging noise. And because it’s made with the same material as the brand’s water bottles, condensation doesn’t occur, so it won’t stain wooden tables. Plus, right now you can pick it up in eight different colors, and even add a set of matching Yeti wine glasses to the mix. I just know my dad is going to love taking this to The Hollywood Bowl or just using it outside when he’s grilling steak or making paella. Knowing him, he might even bring it to a restaurant, but I wouldn’t recommend doing that. There’s just one problem: He’s started reading all of my writing so it will no longer be a surprise. Well, even if I can’t help myself, at least I found your wine-loving dad (or mom!) the perfect gift this year.
